Stirring curiosity with an old-fashioned blog

Now

August 2025:

Old Fashioned News is a blog for learning about how to make stuff. Right now it’s written by me, Tucker Legerski.

What to expect here

  • Tips — Creativity tips and lessons. Helpful stuff I stumble upon.
  • Notes — short posts as I learn.
  • Reports — occasional works of journalism, as much as I can as one-person operation.
  • Reviews — literature, sci-fi, and films that explain our tech future; and third-place reviews: places to hang in public.
  • Creations — Writing, audio, video. Anything I make, I’ll post here.
  • Adventures — Dives into communities, people, and places in Wisconsin and Midwest.

Ethics for Old Fashioned News

Old Fashioned News is an independent blog site to help people understand the parts of the news, media, technology, and learn about cultural artifacts and excellent journalism. It’s also a place to have some fun and log adventures. Being the only writer for OFN for now, here are my own ever-growing ethics:

  • Whenever there is a mistake, I’ll change it. I take responsibility for any information I post. I aim to find as accurate and truthful of information as I can. I will fix grammatical and visual mistakes when they occur.
  • OFN does not accept payment to write about anyone, any place, or any company. I will not accept paid assignments or speaking opportunities from companies or individuals I write about.
  • When offering opinions, reviews, and analysis, these viewpoints will be my own. I’ll always try to show where I learned information.
  • I view criticism as a form of respect, and a genuine exploration of what a place, object, or creative work means, and why it works or doesn’t work.
  • I lead with enthusiastic curiosity.
